What to know at this age
- Shorter naps and more broken nights are common around now and usually settle within a few weeks.
- Switch to the 3-nap option once the fourth nap keeps getting refused or pushes bedtime late.
- Wake windows of about 1.5–2.25 hours are typical.
Common questions
When should I drop to 3 naps?
When the last nap becomes a battle or bedtime keeps drifting later — most often between 4 and 5 months.
What is the 4-month sleep regression?
A permanent shift toward more adult-like sleep cycles. Babies wake more easily between cycles for a while.
